First thanks for PF.

Second ... feature request:

1. A readme in english for installing / upgrading. The zip is full of prc and pdb for different languages and I don't know which one are needed / optional for new install / upgrade . Definitely, which things are for me to install.

2. The white border. I like to read in bed with absolutely no light, PF is super for this, as I can choose the colors I want for back and foreground. Eliminating the white border is the last thing it needs for perfect night reading. I know that this border is present in nearly all palmos apps ... except one I've found: The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP). Could you do something about this?

3. Fonts: I'd like to try with other fonts ... is it possible?

Thanks anyway ... this application is great!

PD: I can't post new topics in this forum ... why?

2. About white border. It's a problem of all PDA's made by PalmOne and Palm. Their real screen sizes isn't 320x320 or 320x480 but about 324x324 and 324x484. This odd pixels are not accessible through standart API and always remain white. But TCPMP developers have found complicated way to hack screen driver and turn them black. It's a bit dangerous and doesn't work with all devices so you are lucky ;)

Though TCPMP is open source project it is not possible to use this feature in PalmFiction. It requires using native ARM code, but Author doesn't understand this programming aspect and isn't going to do it in future =(

If you are using Palm T|X or LifeDrive you may use FrameTX tweak. It removes white border in all applications, but slows down their startup and closing.

UPD: Well... Forum is still a bit buggy and this problems appears in some not clear circumstances. What browser are you using?

3. You can use freeware PalmFictionFontConverter and make any font you like.

FontSmoother works perfectly in PalmFiction, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

On a separate (but related) note, will PalmFiction support text formatting in the future?

WildCelt, it's very difficult to realize text formatting. It is necessary to almost rewrite program code to support it. Author isn't going to do it by himself. Cause PalmFiction is open source project there is a hope, that it will do someone else.

Thanks, Self-Perfection, for the info. It is certainly not a show-stopper for me, but it would be nice.

Fonts created with PalmFiction Font Converter specially designed for PalmFiction, i'ts support tuning of anti-aliasing (linear or non-linear palette) and kerning.

FontSmoother fonts only replacement for system fonts.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but FontSmoother does support antialiased fonts within PalmFiction.

WildCelt:

I think alexhemp wanted to emphasize that you do NOT really need FontSmoother to get antialiased fonts in PalmFiction.

PalmFiction has built-in support for font anti-aliasing and kerning.
And you can use any TrueType or Type1 font in PalmFiction. All you need is a PalmFiction Font Converter tool to convert your favorite font into PalmFiction format.
There're many already converted fonts on http://palmfiction.sf.net/ (Arial, Georgia, Tahoma, Times, Verdana).

PF native fonts is really better than FontSmoother.

Thank you for this great program! At last I don't need to convert my e-books to Palm format. This newest version made big progress compared to 0.12 and now I'm able to read Word's documents with polish fonts :)

I'd like to report 2 bugs:

- no local fonts in toolbar (document's name), though in main menu documents' names are displayed correctly.

- when switching between tabs in main menu: blue lines separating first four icons (explore device/ catalog of documents/ favourites/ recently opened) do not disappear when switching to another tab.
